Murals and Portraits

Welcome to the online Folio of Larissa Cross

Larissa Cross lives in Marburg, a small country town in rural Queensland, Australia. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland in 1996 where she majored in Ceramics and Sculpture. Since then, Larissa has travelled throughout the USA and Great Britain, gaining valuable experience in the Arts industry. Her works cover a variety of mediums, including clay, metals and canvases but her current passion lies with painting murals and sketching portraits.

Larissa discovered her painting skills whilst decorating her two boy's rooms and has been painting mural commissions ever since.

Using the navigation bar on the left, you can view some of Larissa's recent works. Please feel free to peruse this site and contact Larissa for any further information.

WHO AM I?

After receiving my first art award at the age of six, I was determined and destined to be an artist.

My artistic talent was nurtured during my adolescent years, encouraged throughout my senior years at Ipswich Girls' Grammar School and, finally, developed and realised in more recent years.

Always having a keen interest in interior design, home decorating and the fine arts, I went on to further my education at the University of Southern Queensland, undertaking a degree in Visual Arts. It was here where I experimented with many mediums in the arts and gained a vast variety of skills pertinent to any professional artist.

After completing my degree in 1996 I was invited to apply for a position in the Queensland Potter's Association Co-Op Workshop for 1997. All ceramic graduates throughout Queensland were invited to apply. My application was successful and I took up my place in the studio (located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane). During my stay I worked along side Antony Brink (Workshop Coordinator) and utilised my stay to further develop my ceramic practices.

More recently, I was elected on the committee for the Regional Arts Development Fund within the Ipswich City Council. I am also opening a Cafe/Gallery called the Marburg Artists' Hub early in the new year. My hobbies include singing, songwriting and playing guitar.

Throughout my folio I demonstrate a diversity of trained skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and ceramics.

I hope you enjoy my website and I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Larissa Cross
